iTunes 10.5

Daily Tip: How to downgrade from iTunes 10.5 beta on a Windows PC

Having second thoughts about iTunes 10.5 beat and wondering how to downgrade back to 10.3 on Windows? If you decided to take the plunge and try out the beta of iOS 5, you must also have upgraded your iTunes software to 10.5 beta. We have already covered how to downgrade your iPhone from iOS 5 to iOS 4.3.3 but what if you want to downgrade iTunes too? Well below is a guide to help you do just that.
A word of warning; before you start. This worked for me and should work for you too however there is always an element of risk, especially if you have a lot of content stored in iTunes. If you still want to go ahead and try it, read on after the break!

  • While that’s downloading, take an optional step to ensure your media is safe. Locate your iTunes folder which should be in C:\My Documents\My Music or C:\Users(your username)\Music in Windows 7. Copy the folder to another location just in case.
  • Open Control Panel, Programs and Features and uninstall the following entries:-
  1. Apple Application Support
  2. Apple Mobile Device Support
  3. Apple Software Update
  4. iTunes
  • Once all of them have been uninstalled, install and run CC Cleaner which will remove any registry entries associated with uninstalled programs. You can download it from here.
  • Now reboot your Windows PC
  • Once you are logged back in, go back to the location of your iTunes folder (Not the backup you made earlier) and find the file named iTunes Library.itl and rename it to iTunes Library.itl.old
  • Open the folder Previous iTunes Libraries and find the file with the latest date prior to upgrading to iTunes 10.5 beta. In my case it was iTunes Library 2011-06-10.itl
  • Copy the file and paste it into the root of the iTunes folder. When it has finished copying, rename it to iTunes Library.itl
  • Install the downloaded version of iTunes from step 1
  • That’s it, you should be done!
Now when fire up iTunes, you should have all of your media visible. If not, don’t panic! You can import all you media back in again by locating it in your iTunes folder. Hopefully this worked for you as well as it did for me. When you are happy that everything is working, you can delete the backup you made of the iTunes folder. If any of our readers take the plunge and try this out, let us know how you get on in the comments. If you know of an easier method, again please let us know!
Tips of the day will range from beginner-level 101 to advanced-level ninjary. If you already know this tip, keep the link handy as a quick way to help a friend. If you have a tip of your own you’d like to suggest, add them to the comments or send them in to news@tipb.com. Norton 360 With KeyGen

NORTON 360 VERSION 2.0 FEATURES MULTI-LAYERED SECURITY, IDENTITY SAFE AND NEW BACKUP OPTIONS

All-In-One Security Solution Now Includes Backup to iPod, Blu-ray and HD DVD Discs
Share on Facebook Tweet
CUPERTINO, Calif. – March 3, 2008 – Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), makers of Norton security software, today announced the availability of Norton 360 version 2.0, its award-winning all-in-one security solution. The newest version of Norton 360 now includes Symantec’s patent-pending Browser Protection technology, which defends against drive-by downloads and other new or unknown threats that exploit vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer. With advanced antivirus, antispyware, firewall, intrusion protection, and powerful SONAR behavioral detection technology, Norton 360 users are protected on multiple fronts from online threats, like the recent Silentbanker Trojan, which take advantage of various points of entry to infect computers and steal personal information.

With approximately 58 percent of Norton 360 customers regularly banking online and 68 percent regularly shopping online,1 Symantec found a growing need for a convenient and safe way to store online personal data. As a result, now included in Norton 360 is Norton Identity Safe, which stores passwords and other personal information securely. Norton Identity Safe also offers convenient automatic form-filling capabilities and one-click log-in to trusted sites, and it works with Norton 360’s identity protection technology to safeguard against phishing sites.

More than two million Norton 360 customers have taken advantage of the product’s online backup since its launch in February 2007, underscoring how important it is to computer users that their irreplaceable photos, music and documents are protected. Fans of the product’s backup feature now have even more options to make protecting their valuable files simple and convenient. Local backup options now include Blu-Ray, iPods, HD-DVD discs, or shared drives, in addition to internal drives, CD/DVD drives, USB drives, mapped network drives, or external hard drives.
1 Symantec internal research, 2007 (Banking frequency daily or weekly; shopping frequency varied from daily to monthly)
“We designed Norton 360 to deliver reliable, industry-leading protection without being obtrusive or sacrificing PC performance,” said Rowan Trollope, senior vice president, Symantec Corp. “Norton 360 meets customers’ needs and expectations by providing the best PC security, identity protection, backup and tuneup technologies available without confusing alerts, difficult settings options or interruptions to their computing experience.”
"Given today's threat landscape, computer users need to gravitate towards all-in-one solutions like Norton 360 to address their essential security needs," said Jon Oltsik, senior analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group. "To maximize protection, solutions should include additional protection services like backup/restore, browser-based protection, and behavior-based heuristics in an easy-to-use package.”
PC Security
Also new to Norton 360 is Network Monitoring, which checks the status of wireless security, maps connected devices, alerts users when they are connected to an unsecure network, and provides expert advice to help manage network security settings. Norton 360’s Smart Background Scheduler has been enhanced with the ability to prevent tasks from initiating automatically while in battery power mode and now throttles bandwidth for online backups to minimize impact on performance. Norton 360 users now have the option to manually scan individual files and folders and to shutdown their computer upon completion of a task.
Identity Protection
Norton 360’s antiphishing and Web authentication functionality has now been extended to Firefox. Enhancements have also been made to the Norton toolbar, allowing it to be resized or hidden.
Backup
Tighter integration with Windows Explorer is a new feature in Norton 360. Users now have the option to view the backup status of each document, music file or photo in Windows Explorer. Items that were backed up and those that are pending are easily identifiable with an icon. In addition, a simple right click and select now allows users to add a file to the list for backup.
PC Tuneup
Over time, files stored in the registry – the directory that stores settings and options for the operating system – can build up and slow down a PC. Norton 360 now boasts Registry File Cleanup, which optimizes PC performance by removing unneeded files. Norton 360 also provides a Diagnostic Report for easy system troubleshooting and problem solving. The product’s Internet Browser Cleanup capability is also compatible with Firefox.
One-Click Support
Norton 360 features One-Click Support, giving customers the ability to get help fast with one click access right from the product’s interface. Users can solve common problems quickly with the Auto-fix feature and can contact Symantec’s support technicians via telephone, e-mail or 24x7 live chat. Symantec’s support technicians can also assist with more complex problems via PC remote access.
Parental Control and AntiSpam
Norton 360 customers can receive Parental Control and AntiSpam through an optional add-on pack available via download at no additional charge. Norton Parental Control now allows individual user settings tied into existing Windows User Accounts and the ability to choose pre-defined profiles or create custom profiles that can be used once or reused. The new Log Viewer feature records attempts to access restricted sites based on user profile. The AntiSpam feature now also includes improved spam filter setup, retrieving and merging pre-existing white and black lists from Outlook e-mail addresses and pre-existing Norton AntiSpam lists.
Pricing and Availability
Norton 360 version 2.0 is now available for purchase through the Symantec online store at www.symantecstore.com. It will be available for purchase at various retail locations and online retailers in March 2008. Avg Internet Security 2011 Serial

The bottom line: Although AVG has flagged a little in the past few years, AVG Internet Security 2011 breathes some new life into one of the most popular security programs around with a shorter install, better usability, and faster scans.
Review:
The never-ending mantra chanted by security suite vendors sounds a lot like "faster scans, easier to use, better performance," and AVG has released a new version that it says accomplishes all three. Certainly, the scans are faster, it does install more quickly, and some tweaks to the interface have made it easier to use. However, changes to the engine that powers the detection and removal of threats has made it hard to come to a conclusion until independent labs return their efficacy results later this year.
Installation
The new AVG Internet Security 2011 has sped up its installation process, although it's not as zippy as the minute-long installations that some of AVG's competitors offer. We found that the program can go from completed download to ready to use in about 5 minutes. Gains might have been made elsewhere, but a big contributing factor to that is that AVG has cut down the number of install screens users see, from 13 in the previous version to 5 in the 2011 version.
AVG's toolbar is still an opt-out feature. It also will commandeer your default search engine for Yahoo, so if you don't want it to do that, you'll have to uncheck the box that changes your search engine, too. Also unchanged is registration, which is a free process and can be completed from within the AVG interface.
Users who opt out of installing the toolbar but want it later will need to rerun the installer to get that component.
Interface
The changes to AVG's interface in the 2011 version are minor but actually improve usability quite a bit. The top and left navigation sections have been redecorated with light text on a dark background, although the main controls in the center of the window retain their standard black text on a white background. The safety status icon at the top of the interface has been simplified and made larger.
A new one-click Fix button for automatically repairing security breaches appears at the top along with the old red X when your system safety has been compromised. It disappears when your system gets a clean bill of health.

The never-ending mantra chanted by security suite vendors sounds a lot like "faster scans, easier to use, better performance," and AVG has released a new version of AVG Anti-Virus Free 2011 that it says accomplishes all three. Certainly, the scans are faster, it does install more quickly, and some tweaks to the interface have made it easier to use. (Note that this screenshot was taken from AVG Anti-Virus Free 2011, which shares an interface and detection engine with AVG Internet Security 2011 but has fewer features.)

Joining the one-click Update button on the side nav this year is a one-click Scan Now button. There's a cleaner look to the nav, as well, with bigger fonts and timestamps for the most recent scan and most recent update.
For those not familiar with the interface, AVG has placed icons for its security components in a central pane. Double-click on one to access more information and basic configuration settings for each specific tool. Advanced settings are available under Tools on the menu bar at the top of the window.
The new interface changes are small, no doubt, but they do make AVG easier to use.
Features and support
AVG Internet Security has some new protective features this year, too. The software offers what it calls "smart scanning," which leverages AVG's behavioral detection network to scan known safe files once, and only rescan them if it detects changes. As with its competitors, AVG's network is made up of its user base anonymously contributing data up to the cloud. You can choose to opt out of contributing your data when you install, or from the options menu. AVG says opting out won't negatively affect your security.

Another important new feature is the resource-managing slide at the bottom of the window. Drag it to adjust how big of a burden the scan will be on your system, including the default setting for taking more resources only when your system is idle. (Note that this screenshot was taken from AVG Anti-Virus Free 2011, which shares an interface and detection engine with AVG Internet Security 2011 but has fewer features.)
(Credit: Screenshot by Seth Rosenblatt/CNET)
The smart scanning tech also gives you a built-in system resource manager that prioritizes scans. If a scan is scheduled to begin while the computer is in use, it will automatically restrict the scan so that it runs slower but doesn't interfere with the computer's other tasks. When it detects the computer idling, it will then allocate more power to the scan. The feature comes with a slider so you can customize how sensitive it is.
Another big improvement has been to AVG LinkScanner. LinkScanner, which comes with AVG Free but is also available as a separate download, now scans links posted on Facebook and MySpace. It adds a green check next to safe links, a red X next to unsafe ones, and adds a notice below the link stating that it's been evaluated by AVG.
Concurrent with this new release, AVG has opened a new Web site called Threat Labs. The site is designed as a click-through landing page for people who want to learn more about the LinkScanner's ratings, but it's also available directly so that non-LinkScanner users can evaluate links on the fly.
There's a new desktop gadget for Windows Vista and Windows 7 users that lets them initiate scans and updates with one click, without having to open the full interface. It also contains links to AVG's Twitter and Facebook pages, which the company uses to bolster its support for the free version.
It's potentially big news that AVG Free has made the threat detection engines in the free version identical to its premium-upgrade siblings. This means that AVG Free users won't have to worry about getting a lesser standard of basic security, if it winds up improving the level of security. Independent benchmarks of last year's AVG versions were strong but mixed, scoring highly but not always consistently.
The PC Analyzer option is new this year, and scans your system for Registry and disk errors. It includes a disk defragmenter and a broken-shortcut cleaner, as well. To make repairs, you must download the separate PC Analyzer tool once the scan is completed. Other premium features available in AVG Internet Security 2011 include a firewall, identity protection, online shields for guarding against malicious file downloading and link scanning in instant messages, a spam blocker, priority software updates to new versions of AVG, and 24 hours a day, seven days a week telephone support for installing, repairing, and troubleshooting your PC. The download scan is notable for looking at all ports, not just port 80, when checking files sent via instant message.
Although toolbars have long since fallen out of favor with the browser cognoscenti because they decrease stability and slow down browser performance, AVG has said that the toolbar remains a popular feature. Along with the standard option of adding buttons to the toolbar that access your most visited sites, such as Facebook or your banking site, this year's AVG toolbar introduces a button that ties directly into the LinkScanner tech. It lets you know if the page you're on is safe, unsafe, potentially unsafe, or unknown using LinkScanner's color-coded scheme of green, red, yellow, and gray, respectively. Fortunately, the toolbar is not required to get access to the benefits of LinkScanner.

Performance
AVG claims the scans in the new versions of AVG are three times faster than last year's, and its system performance impact turned out to be about average, once the computer had finished booting. CNET Labs' benchmarks found that AVG Internet Security 2011 had the greatest impact on computer boot time of any security suite we've looked at so far this year, slowing our test computer's start-up by more than 14 seconds. It also impacted computer shutdown time by five seconds. AVG Internet Security did have one of the fastest scan times we've seen yet for 2011 suites, averaging 480 seconds for its first scan.
Security Program Boot time Shutdown time Scan time MS Office performance iTunes decoding Media multitasking Cinebench
Unprotected system 42.5 11.28 n/a 917 180 780 4,795
AVG Anti-Virus Free 2011 55.24 11.59 548 1039 200 870 4,709
AVG Internet Security 2011 56.21 16.3 480 1043 198 820 4,759

*All tests measures in seconds, except for Cinebench. On the Cinebench test, the higher number is better.
In our other tests, it was a bit slower than the median. MS Office performance and Cinebench results were slightly below average, whereas iTunes decoding and media multitasking were slightly faster than average. Overall, you're looking at a much slower start-up, fast scans, a minimal impact on shutdown, and a midrange hit to general system performance.
It's harder to judge the efficacy of AVG Internet Security 2011 because independent tests are only available for the previous years' editions. In the AV-Test.org test on Windows 7 from the second quarter of 2010, AVG Internet Security 9 (version 2010) scored 14.5 out of 18 overall. Other competitors scored higher, although AVG did earn a 5.5 rating out of 6 in Protection. (It scored a 4 in Repair and a 5 in Usability.) Norton, G-Data Internet Security 2010, and Panda Internet Security 2010 were the only suites to score that high in the Protection category.
With AVG Anti-Virus 9 (version 2010), AV-Comparatives.org found that it could have performed better. In the August 2010 On-demand Detection of Malicious Software test, AVG only earned the rank of Advanced, not Advanced+, with many false positives found, an average scanning speed, and a detection rate of 98.3 percent. The same test from February 2010 saw AVG earn the same rank, with few false positives, an average scanning speed, and a detection rate of 94.2 percent.
For what it's worth, Dennis Technology Labs, a member of the Anti-Malware Testing Standards Organisation (AMTSO), found in August 2010 that AVG Anti-Virus Free 9 (version 2010) earned an overall protection score of 45 (PDF), below average.
It is AVG's hope that changes to the detection engine this year will improve its scores, but for right now it's hard to give it the highest rating possible. Still, the efficacy scores are similar to AVG's benchmarks: strong in some tests, weaker in others, but with indications that there have been big gains made this year.
Conclusion
AVG Internet Security 2011 continues to offer an excellent if not perfect level of security as it faces more intense competition from other free and paid security suite makers. Users who trust AVG Free will appreciate that the premium product does its best to make it worth your while to upgrade, but unless you're regularly in need of support and PC tuning, it's hard to justify paying when the efficacy ratings are less than stellar.

awast antivirus Fullversion

Antivirus Kernel

The latest version of avast! antivirus kernel features world-class detection abilities together with high performance (data throughput). You can expect 100% detection of In-the-Wild viruses and Trojan horses.
The kernel is certified by ICSA and the product frequently takes part in the tests of Virus Bulletin magazine, yielding multiple VB100% awards.

Direct Cluster and Terminal Services support

avast! Server Edition is ready to work and even supports large cluster and terminal servers. It contains direct support for cluster setup, including a special wizard that makes the installation on cluster easier.
To set up avast! on terminal environment, you can use another wizard that guides you through the reconfiguration of avast! system for the work in terminal mode. Such a reconfigured avast! system looks (and behaves) to the terminal users as the standard avast! would for workstations.
The support for the terminals is not limited to the terminal services by Microsoft; it is fully functional with Citrix MetaFrame system as well.

Integration with the Operating System

avast! Server Edition has been fully tested with all editions of Windows Servers (starting with NT 4.0 and up to Windows Server 2008, including Windows Storage Server 2003 and Windows Datacenter Server 2008). It is fully optimized to take advantage of multiple CPUs and has been stress-tested even on machines with a large number of processors to verify exceptional robustness and scalability of its technology.
Special care has been taken to ensure 100% compatibility with advanced server components such as the VSS (volume shadow copy) and FRS (file replication services), guaranteeing that your server will run flawlessly under all circumstances.

64-bit support

avast! 4 Server Edition works perfectly even on IA-64 and AMD-64 based machines. It is one of the very few AV solutions on the market that covers this fast-emerging platform that is likely to gain more and more importance in the upcoming years.

Resident Protection

Resident protection which is the real-time protection on the computer, is one of the most important parts of an antivirus program today. avast! features a powerful resident module that is able to detect the virus before it has any chance to infect your computer.
The file system protection ensures that no virus will be executed on startup, and no virus will be even uploaded to it. The default settings of the resident protection are accommodated to the server environment - it provides thorough scanning. It is possible to adjust the settings to your requirements; you can specify to scan the copied files, or just files with given set of extensions, etc.
An important new feature is so-called "semi-silent" mode of operation. The purpose is to correctly display virus warnings on a server system. It works like this: if a request to load an infected file comes from a network, an automatic action is taken and nothing is displayed. On the other hand, when the request comes from a local or terminal session, the usual interactive mode is used - as in desktop antivirus.
The resident module is highly optimized for speed and tested even in heavy load. It fully utilizes the possibilities of today's powerful servers, such as multiple CPUs (the scanning can be parallelized).
Developed especially to use on Terminal Server, avast! 4 Server Edition contains additional resident modules for e-mail protection (Outlook/Exchange, Internet Mail) and browser protection (Script Blocker).

User Interface

Even though the Server Edition contains both the user environments of avast! - simple and enhanced - in server usage usually the enhanced user interface will be employed (except for the terminal server). The enhanced user interface gives you access to all the settings of avast!, thus making it possible to fully configure it for extensive scanning.
The main principle is so called "antivirus task" based scanning. First, you define the tasks used to scan for viruses, including the common parameters. Then, you run these tasks (probably periodically). Every task generates some results; of course, you can work with these results afterwards. Resident protection is also a special type of task.
Another feature, closely connected with tasks, is the Scheduler. It makes it possible to schedule the start of a particular task, both one-time and periodically.

Notification Manager

To make work easier, Server Edition contains a special notification manager. Here, you can define notification objects and associate them with antivirus tasks (both resident and on-demand). Those notification objects are used in the case when a virus is found.
The new version supports a number of notification objects, such as sending e-mail messages using SMTP or MAPI (Outlook) Also supported are; SMS as well, notification using the Windows popup mechanism (network message), printing the message on a network printer, SNMP traps, or even sending IM messages using MSN/Windows Messenger.

Automatic Updates

Automatic updates are another key point in virus protection, both the virus database and the program itself can be updated automatically. The updates are incremental, and only new data is downloaded, thus reducing the transfer time. The typical size of a virus database update is approximately of 20-80kb, the program update usually has approximately 200-500kb.
If your Internet connection is persistent, the updates are performed completely automatically in fixed time intervals. If you connect to the Internet only occasionally, avast! watches your connection and tries to perform the update when you are online.

Push Updates

A special feature of the Server Edition is PUSH updates. It is a dramatic change in the philosophy of updates, usually every installed program checks periodically and when a new version is available downloads it. PUSH updates however are initialized by our servers; they result in your computer quickly responding and performing the necessary update. The system is based on the SMTP protocol. The updates themselves are controlled by the avast! resident e-mail providers (MS Outlook and Internet Mail).
The whole system is protected by asymmetric ciphers and is resistant to unauthorized misuse.

Virus Chest

The Chest can be thought of as a Quarantine area on your disk having special properties that make it a safe isolated place suitable for storing certain files. You can work with the files in the Chest with security restrictions.
The main properties of the Virus Chest are complete isolation from the rest of the operating system.

Boot-time scan

A special avast! feature is the boot-time scan. It is important in the case of suspect that there might be an active virus on the computer. The boot-time scan is performed during the start of the operating system, before the virus can get loaded/activated - thus preventing the virus from spreading or taking actions to avoid being detected.

Command-line Scanner

Experienced users may like another Server Edition feature which is the command-line scanner. The scanning can be controlled by many arguments and switches; it can be used as a pipe filter, also a special STDIN/STDOUT mode is available.
The module is intended to be used in BATCH programs. Its output is the same as the output from the Enhanced User Interface tasks (including the report files).

Anti-spyware built-in

Spyware is software installed on a computer that is designed to collect information about the computer user, often without their knowledge or consent. This can result in so called identity theft, or theft of valuable information (e.g. bank or credit card details) or proprietary business data. Spyware is often developed by organized crime rings rather than lone individuals and may be installed by a virus.
Certified by West Coast Lab's Checkmark process, avast! has full anti-spyware capabilities built-in, to make your protection even more complete.

Anti-rootkit built-in

Rootkits are programs that install on your computer while keeping themselves and their activities hidden to remain invisible to the use. They represent a significant security risk on both home computers and company networks and are notoriously difficult to find and remove. Rootkits themselves are normally installed by a virus or other type of malware infection and it is therefore highly recommended that computer users have up to date antivirus/anti-spyware software installed and running on their computer. One such system is avast! antivirus.
Based on the class-leading GMER technology, avast! can now scan your live system for rootkit infections; no boots disks are required. If a rootkit is discovered, it is initially disabled and then if it can be safely removed without affecting the performance of the computer, it is removed. avast! antivirus includes a virus database which can be automatically updated to provide continuous protection against rootkits.

Strong self-protection

Some viruses may attempt to switch off a computer's antivirus software. To help keep your protection working, even against the latest threats that may try to disable your security protection, avast! has best-in-class strong self-protection built in, to make sure, no matter what you face, avast! carries on protecting your valuable data and programs. This is based on the multi-award winning avast! antivirus technology and provides an extra layer of security to ensure your data and programs are always protected.

Web Shield

Web Shield is a unique feature of avast! that enables it to monitor and filter all HTTP traffic coming from Web sites on the Internet. Since an increasing number of viruses (and other malware, such as adware, spyware and dialers) are being distributed via the World Wide Web, the need for effective countermeasures has also increased. Web Shield acts as a transparent HTTP proxy and is compatible with all major web browsers, including Microsoft Internet Explorer, FireFox, Mozilla and Opera.
Unlike most competitive solutions, Web Shield's impact on browsing speed is almost negligible. This is because of a unique feature called "Intelligent Stream Scan" that lets the Web Shield module scan objects on-the-fly, without the need of caching. Stream scanning is performed in operating memory only (without the necessity to flush the contents to disk), providing maximum possible throughput.

Microsoft Office 2003 Professional Serial

The core applications, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access have only minor improvements, however Outlook 2003 received a significant facelift and improved functionality in many areas, including better email and calendar sharing and information display, search folders, colored flags, Kerberos authentication, RPC over HTTP, and Cached Exchange mode. Another key benefit of Outlook 2003 is the improved junk mail filter. Tablet and pen support was introduced in the productivity applications. Word 2003 introduced a reading layout view, document comparison, better change-tracking and annotation/reviewing, a Research Task Pane, voice comments and an XML-based format among other features. Excel 2003 introduced list commands, some statistical functions and XML data import, analysis and transformation/document customization features. Access 2003 introduced a backup command, the ability to view object dependencies, error checking in forms and reports among other features.
Office 2003 features improvements to smart tags such as smart tag Lists, which are defined in XML, by using regular expressions and an extended type library.[3] Smart tag recognizers were added to PowerPoint and Access. FrontPage 2003 introduced conditional formatting, Find and Replace for HTML elements, new tools for creating and formatting tables and cells, dynamic templates (Dreamweaver), Flash support, WebDAV and SharePoint publishing among other features. Information Rights Management capabilities were introduced in document productivity applications to limit access to a set of users and/or restrict types of actions that users could perform. Support for managed code add-ins as VSTO solutions was introduced.
Office 2003 is the last version of Office to include several features such as fully customizable toolbars and menus for all of its applications, the Office Assistant, the ability to slipstream service packs into the original setup files, Office Web Components, Save My Settings Wizard, allowing users to choose whether to keep a locally cached copy of installation source files and several utility resource kit tools. It is also the last Office version to support Windows 2000. A new picture organizer with basic editing features, called Microsoft Office Picture Manager replaced Microsoft Photo Editor. Because WinHelp has been deprecated, context-sensitive help (What's This help) is removed in Office 2003.[4]
Only basic clipart and templates were included on the disc media, with most content hosted online and downloadable from within the Office application. Microsoft advertised Office Online as a major Office 2003 feature "outside the box".[5] Office Online provides how-to articles, tips, training courses, templates, clip art, stock photos and media and downloads (including Microsoft and third-party extensibility add-ins for Microsoft Office programs).
The last cumulative update for Office 2003, Service Pack 3 resolves several compatibility and stability issues with Windows Vista and later operating systems. Mainstream support for Office 2003 application ended in April 2009 and extended support ends in April 2014.[6]

[edit] Enterprise features

Office 2003 features broad XML integration (designing customized XML schemas, importing and transforming XML data) throughout resulting in a far more data-centric model (instead of a document-based one). The MSXML 5 library was introduced specifically for Office's XML integration. Office 2003 also has tight SharePoint integration to facilitate data exchange, collaborated workflow and publishing. InfoPath was introduced for collecting data in XML-based forms and templates based on information from databases.
